Client Meeting

1.My web pages fit my plan, but there are a couple of things I cant add to my web pages like a photo gallery.
2.My topic is: Flood. I have done a lot of research about floods, and posted them in my Google documents. I have also added a couple of nice pictures. Then I used iWeb to add all my information, and i also added pictures.
3. I decided to use a Notebook background, which is great and like it. It has many different colorful colors, like blue, yellow, green, and orange. I have also added 1 video about floods.
4. At the moment I have 5 pages but 2 or 3 of them are blank, but i am going to fill them with facts, games , pictures and many other interesting things.
5. Many things in Apple iWeb works perfectly, and some things doesn't work very good. Inserting pictures and texts were very easy, but i had trouble inserting videos, but now I managed to insert a video.
7. No, I dont have an emergency page, or a reference page.
8. At the moment, i dont have a delicious account, but will make one now.

Different Websites

I chose to compare two different websites:

Good Website:

http://www.ifrc.org/

This website is very useful, it is easy to read, and has information about what is happening in the world. For example, whats happening in Gaza. The information is well organized, and is very neat.

Bad Website:

http://www.hrodc.com/

This website is not useful, it is hard to read because there are so much information, the colors are also very bright which hurts the eyes. The information is not well organized and isn't neat.

Communication and the Internet

• Which communication forms are synchronous?
• Which ones are asynchronous?
• What type of information would be conveyed by each form?
• What is needed in hardware and software for each?

1. The Television and the radio are both communications. They are synchronous because they happen at the same time. Both T.V and radio are hearable.  You can hear the radio and watch T.V at the same time.
   

2. The messenger, and face-book chat

3. By sending email, because by sending post mails it would take a much longer time.

4. For hardware we need a computer, and for software we need a mobile phone.

Investigation

1. Why is communication so important during an emergency?
2. What forms of communication have been used during recent disasters e.g Hurricane Katrina, the Tsunami
3. What essential information needs to be communicated during a disaster or emergency?
4. What information can be created before the emergency? What information needs to be communicated during the emergency?
5. What hardware and software is required to be able to communicate online?

1. Communication is very important during an emergency because you can help other people when they need something or when they are hurt, and other people may help you when you need help.

2. There are some forms of communication formed during recent disasters. One communication is the internet, many people use the internet to get information. There are many websites that tells you what happened, how many people are hurt, and many other useful information. Another communication is television. Many people watch television, and there are many useful channels that give information about disasters. Another communication is people. You may get some useful information from people, but some people may give wrong information, so when somebody asks you about the disaster you give the wrong information and so on.

3. There are essential information that needs to be communicated during a disaster or emergency. People have to know what is happening in the disaster, and how many people are hurt, so that they can help.

4. The information that can be created before the emergency is to inform people. For example, if there was a hurricane, we can inform people that a hurricane is coming, so people will leave the city. The information needs to be communicated during the emergency, is to keep people updated. That way, people will know what is happening.

5. They should have internet connection, so that they can communicate online. For example, using messenger, or building a website to inform people about the emergency.

We use Design Cycle in Design Technology. The design cycle is a tool to help students to create solutions in response to challenges. Technology is creative, used to solve problems, made by people. These are the steps:

Evaluation

What worked well, and what didnt work well?
There are a couple of things that worked well, and a couple of things that we had difficulties with.
Things that worked well:

• When we were using the Mindstorm, there weren't any pieces missing.
• The Tower worked fine, when we first tried it.
• We were able to follow the instructions in the Mindstorm, and we built the robot quite fast.
• We were able to control the robot.
• We have created an Animoto easily, it is a 30 second video about Robots (pictures)
• My wikispace is full of information about robots, like ( Advantages & Disadvantages, what is the lastes technology in robots....etc)
• I have alot of information about robot rules in my wikispace.

Things that didn't work well:

• We weren't able to program the robot, at the first time.
• We had dificulties planning the robot using WinLogo.
• We also had problems using RoboLab.

How can we improve it?

We can improve it by focusing on the design cycle and following instructions. The investigation part went well, but the design part was kind of a disaster, we had some problems in the create part with the tower.

How a robot works??

Definition of a Robot:A robot is automous(independent).It is a machine that uses power, sensors, processsors, and actuators. Robots are used in dangerous situations environments. A robot doesnt need food or sleep. A robot is faster, consistant, and higher quality. This is my definition of a robot.

There are 3 steps for robots.1st Step: Senses 2nd Step: Decides 3rd Step: Acts. Sensors: Light Sensor, Heat Sensor, Motion Sensor, Surface Sensor.Actuators: Levers, Wheels, Pullys, Controllers.

Senses: Senses information about the information.
Decides: Decides on what actions to make based on sensors information.
Acts: Controls gear, levers, wheels, pullys and other devices to get the job done.
